This contemporary fireplace provides a strong architectural terminal between the living room and the entry. The upper level integrated planters have copper sculptures with hidden low-voltage lighting.

"Beneath The Surface”  This photo, taken just prior to completion of the construction of this house in Lake Oswego, Oregon, shows a 22' tall fireplace consisting of groupings of narrow rectangular planters and copper sculptural elements with hidden low-voltage lighting. The client requested something that would be inviting and informal for their Living Room. The architect’s blueprints originally called for a very formal fireplace centered on the only full wall in the room. I redesigned the fireplace, moved it to the corner, added a couple of skylights and gave it all a very organic feel.
