| | | "Raindrops This house was included in the 1999 Portland, Oregon Street Of Dreams, and the proceeds from the sale of the house were donated to the Doernbecher Children's Hospital. The Street Of Dreams, which is open to the public for one month during the summer, showcases 8 to 10 custom homes built by local builders. The house we built, Visa Sienna, was designed as a Contemporary version of the Mediterranean style. Layered artwork flows throughout the entry and stairwell, and includes carved panels and sand-finish plaster castings. Carved panels were also incorporated in the stairway railing. The artwork theme was extended to the stucco detailing in the form of a mural on an exterior wall of the house. Just prior to opening day, the interior designer cautioned me about using Raindrops as the title, since no one in Portland needs to be reminded of the rain! | |
